How to create beautiful responsive apps

Choose your content

Add a theme

Your unique app

Let's get started on your app

We start with an empty container app which we custom-style for you. Every app is uniquely configured and branded – but they are quick and easy to set-up because all the framework elements are built.

The most commonly customised branding areas are the:

  • App icon which appears on the phone or tablet
  • The splash screen
  • The home template
  • All contents pages
  • The sidebar and navigation
  • Messages, help and settings pages

Want a content app with a twist?  We can add bespoke functions and widgets to provide that killer function that will bring people back to your app time and again.

The significant – but boring thing – that many providers do not tell you about:

We publish the app under your account. Don’t worry if you don’t have one – we will talk you through opening an IOS, Google Play and Amazon account. We ask you sign us in as administrators and then we can do the rest. This way you have ultimate control and you can always switch apps around in your account in later years.

And make it exclusively yours

Now we need to get your content into the apps. We can take that from:

  • Your print PDF – for a service fee we will slice and dice your PDFs and turn the content into responsive HTML
  • Your website – we can pull the content in as RSS or any other web format
  • Your content management system – or we can hook into your CMS and pull the content directly from there

Here’s the important stuff we bring to the party.

  • An online content management service – you can upload content into our CMS, style it, design it, edit it and schedule it for publishing. This is perfect if you have content which is not already in an existing CMS – for instance, if it’s created for print and then needs putting into digital format
  • A content distribution service – our cloud CDN caches and optimizes content to give the user the smallest, fastest and most reliable download

Now, let's see the results

Apps are a fantastic way to get a really in-depth picture of your users.  We capture all the valuable user data and reading habits and feed this back into your CRM or preferred analytics package.

Apps are also powerful communication tools and we can hook them up to a push-notification platform which can deliver segmented or behavioural messaging.

We can connect the app login box to your user database or CRM. We can also serve a mixture of free and restricted content.

Finally, if you have or want to pull in a killer function that will get your audience wedded to the app just let us know. Many third party services like social media and events have SDKs that let us connect the apps to them.

All for an amazingly good rate

Page Lizard Webviewer – like an app but in a browser

Getting you started

Webviewers are a great solution for content owners who want to have mobile-responsive content which can be viewed by just clicking on a link.

They are an ideal companion to an app as they are easy to drive traffic to, but provide nearly all of the same functionality as an app.

Once in the viewer the reader swipes or clicks right and left, letting them scroll through pages, creating an immersive reading experience.

They are also easy to set-up – we just need some content and the viewer builds itself. The left-hand menu is automatically generated as the stories are loaded.

Webviewers can stand-alone if you have one brand or publication. They can also be housed within our custom-branded portals where you can have several issues or a library.

Adding your content

Webviewers share exactly the same content as apps – mobile-responsive HTML. Your content can come from the same sources:

  • Your print PDF – for a service fee we will slice and dice your PDFs and turn the content into responsive HTML
  • Your website – we can pull the content in as RSS or any other web format
  • Your content management system – or we can hook into your CMS and pull the content directly from there

And we bring all the same, important, back-end stuff to the party:

  • An online content management service – you can upload content into our CMS and style it, design it, edit it and schedule it for publishing. This is perfect if you have content which is not already in an existing CMS – for instance, if its created for print and then needs putting into digital format
  • A content distribution service – our cloud CDN caches and optimizes content to give the user the smallest, fastest and most reliable download

Data, analytics and reporting

We can gather the same level of data from webviewers as from apps and we can feed all of this back into your CRM or preferred analytics package.

You will see some different patterns of behaviour:

  • Webviewers provide instant gratification – so they normally have more users than apps
  • The users will stay for a few minutes (typically five to seven) and read a few stories (up to 15)
  • Readers are much more engaged than on a website, but they typically don’t spend as long or read as much as those with the equivalent content on an app
