The Times Educational Supplement has launched a number of key upgrades to its TES Digital app, introducing a personalised ‘My TES’ feed and more.
The app has a digital circulation of over 15,000 people, which outranks popular titles such as Top Gear, GQ, Empire and Time magazine.
Readers still have the choice of viewing the weekly education magazine in page-replica or responsive HTML format in the new app, but it now includes personalised streams where readers can select their own topics and interests which are then presented in a sleek home feed.
The app has also had a navigational overhaul, with sleek sidebars, HTML covers and responsive contents pages, as well as upgraded search functionality. Scottish readers are automatically taken to issues of TESS, with news and comment sections dedicated to Scottish topics.
The app meets a complex brief from TES, who wanted busy teachers to be able to log in and see key stories relevant to them at a glance. However, they also wanted to retain the emphasis on their weekly issues in a way that highlights the cover art and features.
As well as this, there is a live feed of breaking news and views from TES’ site, ensuring its readers are always up to date on the latest industry developments.
The app also hosts a comprehensive CPD library, covering subjects from behaviour to financial management and curriculum changes, and all stories can be shared on popular social media channels.
