Page Lizard were proud to support the annual PPA Awards, celebrating world-class talent in the magazine media industry.

Big-IssueLast night, we donned our ballgowns and bow ties and headed into London for an evening of glitz, glamour and publishing excellence! This prestigious event has been running for 35 years, and hosts the much-anticipated Cover of the Year award.

This year there were some superb entries, but the deserving winner was The Big Issue cover designed to mark Remembrance Day, starring Sergeant Rick Clement and photographed by Bryan Adams. See the PPA website for the full list of winners.

The Awards covered a wide range of categories, from Best Use of Social Media (a new award for this year) to Digital Innovator of the Year and Business Magazine of the Year. We want to congratulate all those who won, and also those who were shortlisted for various awards.

Page Lizard sponsored the Editor of the Year (Consumer), which was won by Lindsay Nicholson of Good Housekeeping. Congratulations Lindsay!

Other highlights of the black-tie ceremony included a glamorous drinks reception, a three-course dinner and to finish the night off, a DJ and dancefloor.

Kevin Costello, the PPA Chairman & CEO of Haymarket Media Group described the event as ‘One of the nights in the calendar you wouldn’t want to miss’, and despite nursing sore heads and tired eyes, we’re inclined to agree!

The Origami Challenge

Our origami competition was a hit, attracting some brilliant entries. Despite some cheating (we spotted the watermark!) and some creations that definitely resembled crumpled paper, we saw some fantastic entries, and it was tough to choose a winner.

Highly Commended

We loved how much character Christine could give to a folded paper pig – look at that face!

The Drum lizard had a busy evening, sneaking sips of wine, attempting to try the ganache and stealing an award. Points for the stars in its eyes too!

And the winner is…

This table sent some brilliant pictures in throughout the evening, each one containing a new origami creation. With so much paper-folding talent in one snap, ‘Animal Farm’ wins a bottle of champagne! See some more of their posts below.
